Andrew Campbell, EIMI service technician, recycles an old Bantam Ultrasound battery
E.I. Medical Imaging goes green with its new battery recycling program. "We needed a way to keep bad useless batteries that have accumulated, from going into the dumpster" says Andrew Campbell service technician at E.I. Medical. For awhile now we have been searching for an alternative to keeping them boxed in a closet or just throwing them away. After a short trip to the local landfill the Call 2 Recycle program was adopted to resolve this problem. The program recycles all rechargeable batteries and even old cell phones that are no longer needed. Old cell phones can be refurbished and resold helping to fund this completely free recycling program. Now that E.I Medical Imaging is a local collection location many of the employees are taking advantage of this opportunity to clean house and get rid of their old useless batteries.
Campbell asked "Where do the batteries go and what happens to the waste?" According to the program director of Call 2 Recycle, "All of the batteries are recycled to create other materials like new batteries, stainless steel products and none of the materials received find their way to any landfill." "No waste that's good for everyone!" said Campbell. Why not look into it for yourself just visit http://www.call2recycle.com/ to find a local collection location near you.
