Discovery of rectal palpation to distinguish features and structures of the female reproductive tract dates back to the 1800’s.

Since then, there has been widespread adoption of this technique as a reproductive tool in the veterinary field to determine various aspects of the cow’s reproductive status. Such aspects pertaining to palpation include uterine manipulation for determining pregnancy status, palpation of ovaries for presence of ovarian structures (i.e. corpus luteum and follicles), and diagnosis of reproductive abnormalities such as abscesses, adhesions, ovarian cysts, etc…

It has been a year of trials and tribulation and tragedy and triumph for us here at E.I. Medical Imaging.  This is a look back at what was a year somewhat like a roller coaster ride.  A year of very good high times and a year of some low points.  We have weathered the storms of the year and we look forward to a 2014 filled with its own challenges, opportunities and I am sure difficult times as well.  Here is a look back at 2013.

 Dr. Lorenzo Crosta, DVM, PhD just ended his visit in Zoomarine Portugal, where two vets there, Dr. Luis Roques and Dr. Carla Flanagan,  are shown ultrasounding a dolphin using the Ibex. The Ibex portable ultrasound was the perfect equipment to use for this diagnosis since it is water resistant the doctors were not worried about the equipment being splashed.
